Accommodation on Mull

Most of the action during the rally is based around the top half of Mull, and as such, accommodation can become pretty scarce in these areas.

Many islanders offer their homes for either self-catering or bed & breakfast during the event. I have stayed with many families during past visits to Mull and the hospitality offered by all has been second to none. Indeed most islanders will bend over backwards to help visitors wherever they can, which only adds to the charm of this beautiful island.

Prices are dependant on the kind of luxury you are after and during our time on Mull we have stayed in all types of accommodation from the amazing Glengorm Castle, through to self-catering lodges in Tobermory.

The picturesque setting of Tobermory, watchers of Balamory will notice a remarkable likeness!

The four main areas on the island where people tend to stay are Tobermory, Dervaig, Craignure and Salen. Tobermory is effectively the capital being the largest habitation on the island and is favoured by the majority of visitors with a multitude of bars, restaurants and gift shops to choose from. There are numerous hotels and B&B’s scattered around the harbour front and up amongst the houses on the hillside behind. Many people visiting the rally tend to re-book the same accommodation each year so it can sometimes be difficult to track down digs for the first time. However, persistence will pay off as more and more islanders’ properties become available for accommodation purposes each year.

There are a number of luxurious hotels on the island so if you fancy a bit of pampering you could always book into one of these as rooms are usually available during the rally.
