Neil MacKinnon and Mike Stayte won this weekend’s 2006 Tour of Mull Rally. The victory was MacKinnon’s 11th on the three-leg pace note event and came despite gearbox woes and the baying duo of Calum & Iain Duffy in their Mk II Escort, who finished just over two minutes behind the leaders in 2nd place.
MacKinnon praised the efforts of the McKinstry mechanics who kept the Subaru Impreza WRC on song throughout the event, which was described by many as the fastest yet. Our own teams of Hopwood & Grattidge, and Miller & Bailey were not contesting this years event, although after a first outing for crew and car in 2005, Pierre Newton & Dan Simcock finished in a respectable 47th Overall in just their second rally to date - well done lads!
We’ll be adding pictures and stories over the coming weeks, and if you were spectating, competing, supporting or just happened to be there on the day - do get in touch, we’d love to hear from you!
